Introduction to Kung Fu

As a general term, Kung Fu encompasses all Chinese martial arts, first originating around the Zhou dynasty or even earlier. However, the pinyin Gong Fu is more accurately the term’s correct pronunciation.(For more info on what pinyin is, consult this.) Written as 功夫, it originally refers to mastering any discipline through hard work and commitment. The meaning of the word has changed due to the introduction of Chinese martial arts into mainstream media, and now it is mainly associated with Chinese martial arts.
